What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device (computer, phone, or tablet) when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites work correctly, to remember your preferences, and to help website operators understand how visitors use their sites.
Cookies are set either by the website you are visiting directly (first-party cookies) or by third-party services that the website uses, such as analytics or payment providers (third-party cookies). Each cookie has a name, a value, and an expiry date. When you return to a website, your browser sends the relevant cookies back to the site so it can recognise you or recall your settings.
In addition to traditional cookies, we may also use similar technologies such as local storage, session storage, and pixel tags where appropriate. All references to "cookies" in this policy include these similar technologies unless stated otherwise.
How we use cookies
We use cookies for three purposes only: to operate the platform (essential), to remember your preferences (functional), and to understand how the product is used at an aggregate level (analytics). We group these into the categories below, each with a clear explanation of what they do and whether you can turn them off.
These cookies are necessary for you to log in, navigate the dashboard, and use core features. Without them, the platform cannot function. They cannot be turned off without disabling your ability to use Proof. No personal data collected by these cookies is shared with third parties or used for any purpose other than operating the Service.
These cookies remember your dashboard layout preferences, notification settings, language, and similar personalisation options. They make the platform more convenient to use. If you disable them, the platform will still work but you may need to re-enter your preferences each session.
These cookies help us understand which features are used most, where users encounter friction, and how the product performs overall. The data is used in aggregate and anonymised after 30 days. We do not use Google Analytics. Our analytics provider is privacy-respecting, does not track users across other websites, and does not sell data.
We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting cookies, or any cookies that track your behaviour across third-party websites. We do not work with ad networks, data brokers, or behavioural advertising platforms. This is a firm commitment, not a preference that may change with a policy update.
Essential cookies in detail
The following essential cookies are set when you log in to or use the Proof platform. They are all first-party cookies set by proof.broadable.com or app.proof.broadable.com.
| Cookie name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| proof_session | Maintains your authenticated login session. Without this cookie you would need to log in on every page visit. | Session (clears on browser close) | Session First-party |
| proof_auth_token | Stores a secure authentication token to keep you logged in across browser sessions when you select "Remember me." | 30 days | Persistent First-party |
| proof_csrf | Cross-site request forgery protection token. Prevents malicious third-party sites from submitting requests on your behalf. | Session | Session First-party |
| proof_workspace | Remembers which workspace you last had active so you land in the correct workspace when you return to the dashboard. | 90 days | Persistent First-party |
| proof_consent | Stores your cookie consent choices so we do not display the consent banner on every visit. | 12 months | Persistent First-party |
All essential cookies are HttpOnly (not accessible to JavaScript) and Secure (only sent over HTTPS). They do not contain personal data beyond what is necessary to maintain your session.
Functional cookies in detail
Functional cookies are optional and require your consent. They improve your experience within the platform by remembering personalisation choices you have made.
| Cookie name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| proof_ui_prefs | Stores your dashboard display preferences, such as list vs grid view, sidebar state, and column visibility settings. | 12 months | Persistent First-party |
| proof_notifications | Remembers which in-app notification banners you have dismissed so they are not shown again on each visit. | 6 months | Persistent First-party |
| proof_lang | Stores your language or locale preference if you have selected a language other than the default for your browser. | 12 months | Persistent First-party |
You can disable functional cookies at any time via your account Settings page under Privacy, or by clearing cookies for proof.broadable.com in your browser. The platform will continue to work normally; you may simply need to re-select your preferences at the start of each session.
Analytics cookies in detail
We use a privacy-respecting analytics tool to understand how users interact with the Proof dashboard. We do not use Google Analytics. The analytics cookies we set are first-party cookies, and the data they collect is processed in aggregate. Individual session data is anonymised after 30 days and retained in aggregate form only.
| Cookie name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| proof_anon_id | A randomly generated anonymous identifier used to count unique visitors and analyse product usage flows without linking data to your personal identity. | 13 months | Persistent First-party |
| proof_session_id | Tracks the current analytics session (e.g., which features were used during a single visit) for aggregate feature-usage reporting. | Session | Session First-party |
No advertising or tracking cookies
We want to be unambiguous about this: Proof does not use advertising cookies, retargeting cookies, or any cookie that tracks your browsing behaviour across websites other than proof.broadable.com.
Specifically, we do not use cookies from or for:
- NoGoogle Ads, Google Tag Manager (for advertising), or DoubleClick
- NoFacebook Pixel or Meta Ads tracking
- NoLinkedIn Insight Tag or other social media ad tracking pixels
- NoHotjar, Mouseflow, or session recording tools that capture individual keystrokes or mouse movements
- NoAny third-party data broker or audience segmentation platform
This commitment applies to all parts of proof.broadable.com and the Proof dashboard. We will update this policy and provide notice before implementing any advertising cookie that is not listed here.
Cookies set by Proof widgets on your website
When you embed a Proof widget (Wall of Love, testimonial collection form, or similar) on your own website, that widget may set a small number of cookies on your visitors' devices. These are separate from the cookies described above and apply only when your website visitors interact with embedded Proof content.
Cookies set by embedded widgets
| Cookie name | Purpose | Duration | Who sets it |
|---|---|---|---|
| proof_widget_seen | Records whether a visitor has already seen or submitted a testimonial collection form on your website, to avoid showing the same form repeatedly. | 30 days | Set by the Proof widget script on your domain |
| proof_w_id | An anonymous identifier used to attribute widget impressions and conversions to the correct workspace for analytics reporting within your dashboard. | Session | Set by the Proof widget script on your domain |
How to manage and control cookies
You have several ways to control cookies set by Proof and by most other websites you visit.
Within the Proof platform
Logged-in users can manage functional and analytics cookie preferences at any time from Settings > Privacy > Cookie preferences within the Proof dashboard. Changes take effect immediately without requiring a page reload.
Via your browser
All major browsers allow you to view, manage, and delete cookies. The links below go directly to the cookie settings pages for the most common browsers:
Please be aware that blocking all cookies through your browser settings will prevent you from logging in to the Proof dashboard, as essential session cookies are required for authentication. If you wish to use Proof while managing cookies, we recommend blocking only third-party cookies in your browser settings, which will have no effect on Proof's first-party essential cookies.
Do Not Track (DNT)
Some browsers support a "Do Not Track" (DNT) header that signals your preference not to be tracked. We respect DNT signals. When your browser sends a DNT signal, we will not set any optional analytics cookies for that session, regardless of your previous consent preferences stored on the platform.
